The birth of a child is one of life’s most rewarding experiences. The St. Joseph’s Hospital Maternity department takes pride in working with families to make the labour, birth, and postpartum experience a time they can remember and treasure. The specially trained staff will make every attempt to provide supportive care during your birthing experience.
Birthing and delivery support offered at St. Joseph’s Hospital includes:
- Caesarean Sections
- Baby Nursery
With over 25 employees, the maternity unit provides a friendly and comfortable environment for all patients and their families. Following the birth of a child, mothers and babies are monitored according to their individual needs and doctor’s suggestions.
The medical staff also provides guidance in the following areas during the care of the mother and the newborn.
- Assistance with breast feeding – Breast pump rentals
- Teaching mothers how to take care of themselves after birth and/or C Sections
- Teaching new mothers and fathers how to care for the baby. This includes bathing, managing umbilical cord, medications, etc.
The maternity unit also provides all supplies that are needed by the newborn and the parents while admitted.
